Ethiopia Sidama Shanta Global is sourced from family owned farms organized around the Shanta Golba Cooperative, located in the Bensa district within the Sidama Zone, Southern Nations Nationalities and Peoples’ Region, Ethiopia. The Shanta Golba Cooperative joined the Sidama Coffee Farmers Cooperative Union (SCFCU), an umbrella organization established 2001 to support a sustainable coffee supply from cooperatives in the Sidama Zone. SCFCU supports forty-six cooperatives with more than 80,000 farmer members.
Ethiopia Sidama Shanta Global green coffee is a variety of Indigenous heirloom cultivars. Full natural process and dried in the sun on elevated tables. The fruit notes of green apple, tangerine and citrus tartness is what gives this coffee a blueberry like experience and is developed by fermenting fruit sugars during the natural process. The beans are dried inside the coffee fruit unlike the washed process were the fruit has been removed first before drying.
